State Sen. Neil Anderson issued the following reaction in response to Gov. Bruce Rauner’s Budget Address Feb 14.
“The top priority for Springfield is a basic concept that hasn’t happened in far too long: passing a truly balanced budget - period. If we can’t do that, how are we supposed to change the other issues plaguing Illinois?
“Serious conversations, difficult decisions, and true compromise from both parties must be the solution to our budget woes. Let me be clear, however, this includes no new tax increases. The people of Illinois have been taxed enough. It’s time for a budget solution that respects all taxpayers and one that gives certainty to those who rely on the state resources like schools and social service providers.
“Families must live within the confines of their budget. Illinois must be no different. The culture of spending more than we take in must stop. The future of Illinois depends on it.”
