State Senator Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) released the following statement after Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner delivered his budget address:
“Governor Rauner has outlined what a budget proposal needs to contain for him to sign it into law, and I believe he made it clear that the current ‘Grand Bargain’ plan in the Senate simply isn’t ready yet. We need to follow the Governor’s lead. We need to find cuts and balance expenditures with revenue. We need to make Illinois government more efficient and responsive. We cannot settle for something that will only slow our state’s decline, we need a plan that will end the slide and help our economy grow good paying jobs. Now the spotlight returns to the legislature to deliver to the Governor a budget package that can meet those reasonable and necessary goals.”
