After a collegial ‘rite of passage’ pestering by his Senate colleagues on April 21, State Sen. Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) passed his first bill on a very serious matter affecting Illinois’ workforce development.
“The 21st Century workforce is unlike previous ones. There is a mobile, ever-changing dynamic in the workplace. Illinois education and labor agencies need to be more responsible to those Illinoisans seeking employment,” Weaver said. “Job preparedness is extremely important and Senate Bill 3010 will assist Illinoisans in their job-seeking endeavors.”
Senate Bill 3010 aligns Illinois with the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, which was designed to help job seekers access better forms of training, career counseling, and employment.
Senate Bill 3010 passed with a XX-X vote and now heads to the House of Representatives for further action.
