State Sen. Darin LaHood (R-Dunlap) offered the following comments after Governor Bruce Rauner’s first budget address on Feb. 18.
“Governor Rauner’s budget proposal is the first one I have heard that was not loaded with a bunch of gimmicks and half-truths. His ideas for reducing Illinois’ fiscal burdens are real, because we have to make the state competitive again. Our status as being ranked 49 or 50 on most economic indicators must be reversed and the Rauner budget will help keep the state’s fiscal ship afloat,” LaHood said. “The budget process starts today and all 177 members of the General Assembly will have to work together. Unfortunately after a decade of serious financial mismanagement, the fiscal pain will not be easy or without some sacrifice.”
